Thank you for your patience and continued commitment to the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Qualification Review project. In response to advice and feedback from the lived experience sector during this project, we have developed a dedicated Consultation Strategy and approach to the review of CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.

The review of the qualification will follow the Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF) to ensure a structured, transparent and compliant process. We will engage with mental health peer work employees, employers, mental health commissions, consumer and carer peaks, registered training organisations, unions, federal/state representatives, and current students in our consultations, in line with requirements under the TPOF.

Qualifications

The project will look at the CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, 6 units of competency and 2 associated skillsets

You can provide us with any initial feedback on the current qualifications and units of competency by emailing details to trainingproductadvice@humanability.com.au.

Units of competency with few or no enrolments

As part of the CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work qualification reform, we are reviewing the elective units to ensure the certificate remains current, streamlined and aligned to workforce demand and training package design requirements. This includes identifying units of competency with few or no enrolments and/or which substantially overlap with current or possible proposed Peer Work (PWK) units.

Units considered through this process will not be removed from the National Training Register. They will remain available and can continue to be selected under the allowance for two units from another training package or accredited course, often referred to as ‘free electives’.

You are invited to complete a survey in relation to selected units of competency in the CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Support Work. We are seeking insights on whether any of the units of competency with few or no enrolments should be retained with a clear rationale related to occupational relevance, workforce need or distinct outcomes not otherwise addressed.

Your insights will inform decisions about the future structure and content of the qualification.
